Walk Through a Lesson
Kingdom Quest Grades 5 & 6

	Small Group Warm-up (15 minutes) Kids build relationships while doing a learning readiness activity. They connect with the lesson, each other, and their Shepherd.
	In this lesson, the shepherd challenges the group to figure out a brain teaser. Beforehand, the shepherd secretly has told two students how to figure it out. The large group presenter comes by and acknowledges the "smart" people who figured it out. They are removed from the group for a special reward. Kids left in the group talk about how it feels to be left out.
	Large Group (20-30 minutes) For this six-week series on friendship, the large group leader plays the role of a teacher, Ms. Thinkendo. She publicly praises and rewards the special group who figured out the riddle.
	The group is told not to let anyone else get into their circle.
	Church is different. It is gatherered around Jesus and his acceptance. The church goes out and invites others in.
	In this lesson, a scene from the Jesus of Nazareth video illustrates the bible event.
	Small Group Application (20-25 minutes) In small group, the kids use their bible to dig deeper into the bible event.
	For application, they write the names of friends they can bring and include at church.
	A foot washing event helps relect on how Jesus accepted us and how we can invite others.
	The group closes with prayer as each child is encouraged to pray.
